North Dakota Ballot Issues
North Dakota voters have important statewide issues to decide on in Tuesday’s election. First is choosing a new governor, as incumbent Doug Burgum is not running for re-election. Republican Congressman Kelly Armstrong is going against Democratic State Senator Merrill Piepkorn and independent Michael Coachman in the governor’s race. Republicans have held the governor’s office since 1992.
Meanwhile, US Senator Kevin Cramer is running for re-election against Democrat Katrina Christiansen.
There is also a ballot measure that would end local property taxes in North Dakota. Another measure calls for legalizing recreational marijuana use; voters turned down similar measures in 2018 and 2022. Yet another measure in North Dakota would make it more difficult to amend the state constitution.
