One Arrested After SWAT Team Sent To Rural Thompson Residence
One man is in custody after the regional SWAT team was called to a property southwest of Thompson, ND. The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home in the 500 block of 15th Street NE around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25 for a report of a suicidal man who was armed with a gun. Deputies arrived on scene and were setting up a perimeter when they say a man fired a single shot with a high caliber rifle. Deputies requested assistance from the regional SWAT team, UAS and negotiations teams, and the Grand Forks Police K9 apprehension team. Deputies and SWAT members approached the home in an armored vehicle and a woman was able to leave the home. Officials say the suspect, 35-year-old Kyle Spicer, came out of the home a short time later and was taken into custody. Through investigation, deputies developed probable cause to arrest Spicer under suspicion of terrorizing, felonious restraint, interference with a 911 call, simple assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
