Memorial Day weekend is fast approaching, and while it signals the start of the fun summer months, it also signals the start of one of the most deadly times of year for motorists. Norman County Sheriff Ben Fall encourages all drives to take extra precaution, and drive safe during this busy time.

Sheriff Fall says while it may not seem like it, rural roads can be more dangerous for drivers than busy interstate highways.

Fall says the Norman County Sheriff’s Department will also be doing extra enforcement during the Memorial Day Holiday.

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for American teens, and during the 100 Deadliest Days, teens are 20% more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than they are during the rest of the year.
