Planned Power Outage In Hawley Thursday Night

HAWLEY, MN—Thursday night, October 1 will be the night the lights go out in Hawley.  Minnkota Power Cooperative has scheduled a power outage in Hawley starting at 11pm Thursday until 5am Friday.  This will allow Minnkota Power workers to perform scheduled maintenance and upgrades at the Hawley substation.  They will also install a new main breaker and replace the original glass insulators.  And while that’s going on, Hawley Public Utilities will work on updates for their side of the electric system.  If you rely on power for medical devices, please plan accordingly.  You should disconnect major electronics to prevent surge damage. And if you use an electric alarm clock, find another alternative to wake up at the right time for work or school.
