Polk County Commission to have difficult discussions on budget

As we move closer to the fall season, area school districts, municipalities, and County Commissions will be moving into budgeting season, and Polk County Commission is one of the entities that are expected to have lengthy discussions. Polk County Commissioner Joan Lee talks more about their upcoming budget, and what all needs to be considered or a part of it. 

Lee says it’s become a real challenge to keep a stable levy, as the cost for everything continues to go up, with no end in sight. 

Lee says this is especially true for them, as they’re looking at employee wage increases, and likely further increases in employee benefits like health insurance. 

The Polk County Commission holds meetings on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM.
