Polk County Commission Update 

After being short a member for multiple months due to the resignation and passing of former Commission Chair Mark Holy, the Polk County Commission is at full strength after a special election last month. Polk County Commissioner Joan Lee says she is happy for the commission to be at full strength, and she has confidence in their newest member. 

With the Minnesota Legislative Session underway, Lee says the county is currently focused on pushing back against the State of Minnesota’s attempts to shift the cost of federal/state funded programs to the county level. 

Lee says Polk County is also focused on trying to secure state funding by way of a bonding bill, for updates to their landfill service. 

Lee says they would be seeking funding to make this process feasible.
