Polk County Environmental Services encouraging lake goers to take extra precaution
A few weeks ago the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reported that Zebra Mussels were discovered at Lake Union in Polk County. Jacob Schneider of Polk County Environmental Services encourages everyone to do their part in stopping the spread of invasive species to prevent species from spreading to more local lakes like it has at Lake Union.
Schneider also explained what a Zebra Mussel is, and why it’s so important to prevent them from spreading to more area lakes.
Lastly Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman says that there can be legal precautions if a person is being negligent and not taking the proper steps in preventing the spread of invasive species.
Tadman and Schneider were guests on the KKCQ Food For Thought Programs which aries Monday through Friday at 8:45 AM on 96.7 FM.
