Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman retiring at the end of the year

February 5, 2026 News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

After more than 30 years of service to the county, Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman announced that he will not be seeking re-election in 2026, and will instead be retiring at the end of his term. Tadman made the announcement during the KKCQ Food for Thought Program on Thursday morning.

Tadman says his career with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office started 38 years ago, when he interned with the department. Over that time, he has worked a vast amount of different roles from undercover investigator to sheriff.

Tadman says he is grateful for the Polk County Community, as well as all of his co-workers, and past employees for the support over the years.

While he will not be around next year, Tadman says his department will remain focused in 2026, and will continue its work without interruption.
