Polk County Sheriff’s Office mourning the loss of Department K9 Rex 

Earlier this week, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of their Department K9 Rex. During his Visit of Food for Thought on Thursday, Polk County Sheriff Jim Tadman spoke more about Rex’s passing, and commended his handler Sargent Ben Stout for all their excellent work over the years. 

K-9 Rex was a 7-year-old Belgian Malinois/German Shepard mix and was a member of the Polk County Sheriff’s since 2021. He was trained in narcotic detection, apprehension, and tracking.
