Polk County Shooting Update
There’s new information available about an officer-involved shooting in Polk County that left one man dead. This past Tuesday, 42-year-old Lucas Gilbertson of rural East Grand Forks was killed while law enforcement was attempting to serve a warrant. The University of North Dakota’s forensic pathologist says Gilbertson died from multiple gunshot wounds. The Minnesota BCA is not releasing the name of the officer who shot Gilbertson, saying the officer works undercover for the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force. BCA agents say at one point, Gilbertson broke a window and threw a handgun outside. Investigators did find a gun. While there is body cam and police car video footage of law enforcement serving the warrant, there isn’t any video of the shooting because the officer wasn’t wearing a body camera.
