Polk County’s Share Of Opioid Settlement Funds
On Monday’s “Food For Thought” program on KKCQ, Polk County Commissioner Joan Lee spoke about the County’s share of money from the state’s settlement with companies that make and distribute opioids. Lee says so far, Polk County has received just over $550,000. But getting that money will be complicated.
Lee says distributing the money to area agencies is also complicated.
Lee says six applicants for getting opioid settlement money have been approved: Alluma, the Crookston Youth Foundation, New Heights Elementary School in East Grand Forks, Tri-County Community Corrections, the Tri-Valley Opportunity Council and the University of Minnesota. Lee also noted that most of the settlement funds have so far been “Crookston-centered” with a gap for the eastern part of Polk County.
