Recommendation To Remove Ice Houses
In North Dakota, the deadline to remove fish houses from area lakes is March 15. But it’s being recommended you remove them sooner, rather than later. The North Dakota State Game and Fish Department is advising people with permanent fish houses to consider removing them early in areas of the state where ice conditions are getting worse. With the long-range weather forecast predicting above normal temperatures, plus a marginal icepack, removing a fish house can be difficult or dangerous. And if you’re planning some ice fishing before the season ends, check the ice conditions…especially at this time of year. Ice thickness can vary from region to region and even among lakes in the same region.
