Minnesota House of Representative member for District 2A (R) Matt Grossell  announced on Friday that he will not be seeking reelection in 2024 after serving four terms in the House. Grossell, who is also a former Clearwater County Sheriff’s Deputy, says that he will not be seeking re-election due to retirement and will be moving to Alaska to move closer family.

While he won’t be seeking re-election rep. Grossell says he is “ looking forward to finishing strong in St. Paul, especially through pushing for tax cuts, which are critical for families and small businesses facing record inflation. Additionally, I believe it is important to provide our officers with the support they need to excel in our state.”

Grossell held positions on the Capital Investment, Judiciary Finance and Civil Law, and Public Safety Finance and Policy committees. He has also had his fair share of controversy, as he has been arrested during his time in the House twice. The first incident occurred back in 2019 when he was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was arrested for trespassing. The second incident happened in February when he was arrested and cited for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A Republican candidate to run for Grossell’s seat has not been announced as of noon Friday.
