Rep. Joy On 2025 MN Legislative Session

Next Tuesday, the Minnesota Legislature begins its 2025 session.  One question hangs over the Capitol in St. Paul: Will House Democrats show up for work?  It’s a question that came up after last November’s election, when the DFL and Republicans each won 68 seats.  Then a few weeks later, it was proved that one DFL Representative didn’t actually live in the district where he was elected.  So for the moment, Republicans have a one seat majority.  Republican Representative Jim Joy of Hawley takes up the story.

Joy says he and his fellow Republicans in the Minnesota House will play the cards they are dealt.

A special election is scheduled for later this month to fill the now-vacant House seat.  That election could give Republicans a two seat majority in the House or tie it at 68 again.
