RRCC Women’s Basketball – Post vs Itasca Scrimmage

Wednesday night, the Women’s Basketball team at Rainy River had a home scrimmage against Itasca where the Voyageurs, playing with a small bench, would lose to the visitors. Afterwards we got to speak to the two sophomores and a freshman on the team.

Jaz is a more unique freshman because of her love for the cold.

We’re sure we can all agree with Coach Koenig. The girls were then asked what the bigger takeaways from the scrimmage.

It was probably also helpful to keep the energy when the Men’s Basketball team had packed the student section in order to cheer for them.

What’s something to adjust with this very new Voyageurs squad?

The three were then asked what will be a way to get over any hurdles this season.

Then, they talked a little more on the physicality they’ll need for this season while being so short of staff.

And where has the most team bonding occured?

Finally, they were asked what could be an advantage of these scrimmages against conference opponents.

The Voyageurs will begin their season on November 8th in a tournament at Mesabi Range.
