Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson addresses Proposed Sanctuary State Bill
Late last week a group of Minnesota DFL Lawmakers announced plans to push for legislation that would make Minnesota into a sanctuary state for undocumented immigrants. The bill called the “North STAR Act” is authored by Representative Sandra Feist, and Senator Omar Fateh, and would prevent Minnesota law enforcement agencies from cooperating with federal immigration agencies.
Minnesota Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson was on Friday’s installment of the Kaleidoscope program and voiced his opposition for the bill saying that he’s had Democrats and Republicans reaching out to him in opposition of this bill.
Senator Johnson says that the State of Minnesota can’t afford to pass legislation like this, and claims it would “break the system”, if passed.
Minnesota would become the 12th Sanctuary State in the United States if the “North STAR Act” is passed joining California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermin, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
