Earlier this month, an Ethics Complaint was brought forward against Minnesota Senate President Bobby Joe Champion (R-North Minneapolis) in regards to an alleged conflict of interest involving a former business client of his. On Monday the Senate Rules and Administration’s Subcommittee on Ethical Conduct had a hearing to hear testimony from both Champion, and his accusers. Senator Michael Kreun (R-Blaine) tells us more about the accusations against Senator Champion.

David Zoll of Champion’s defense team defended his client, claiming that he did nothing wrong, or illegal.

Senator Champion also spoke on his behalf, and made it clear that he broke no rules, as he had no financial interest in the legislation that was awarded to his former client.

Champion was cleared of any wrongdoing by the Senate Rules and Administration’s Subcommittee on Ethical Conduct.
