Senators Rob Kupec and Aric Putnam give early preview of 2027 Session 

Despite being months away, planning is already underway for the 2027 Legislative Session, which will kick off in January. Minnesota Senators Aric Putnam (DFL-St Cloud) and Rob Kupec (DFL-Moorhead) were in studio earlier this week, and they previewed the 2027 session, which they say will be all about budgeting. 

With majorities expected to be slim in both the House of Representatives and Senate, Putnam and Kupec says bi-partistanship will once again be very important if things are going to get done. 

The Minnesota Legislature will look very different this year, as the state will have a new governor and Lieutenant Governor for the first time since 2019. However, Kupec and Putnam does not see this slowing things down in the legislature. 

The Next Minnesota Legislative Session will begin on January 12, 2027.
