Severe Weather Awareness Week: Extreme Heat

April 11, 2025 News -- KRJB-KRJM-KKCQ 0

R&J News wraps up its series on Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota.  Friday’s focus is on extreme heat.  Norman County Emergency Management Director Garry Johanson says he’s concerned about a warm summer.

When the temperature gets into the 90s and above, it’s important to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade or indoors.  Johanson says it’s important to pace yourself when working outdoors in warm weather.

Something else to be aware of in the summertime is a Red Flag Warning.  That’s when strong winds, low humidity and high temperatures can raise the risk of fire danger.  Johanson reminds us we’ve had some Red Flag Warnings this spring.

Severe Weather Awareness Week is designed to make you plan ahead for severe weather during the spring and summer.  You can look back to our reports earlier this week here at http://RJBroadcasting.com.
