Shelly Grain Elevator Fire Update
SHELLY, MN—Here’s an update to a story R&J News told you Sunday. Saturday night’s fire at the Shelly Grain Elevator was caused by embers from the August 8 fire re-igniting. Norman County Sheriff Ben Fall tells R&J News the Shelly Fire Department was called at 8:07 Saturday night about flames coming from the grain elevator’s remains. Fall says with Saturday’s winds, embers from the grain elevator wreckage turned into a full fledged fire. Firefighters from Shelly were able to put out Saturday’s fire in about an hour and a half. There was no additional property damage.
