Skywarn Storm Spotter Training Classes being offered

Polk County Emergency Management, in conjunction with the National Weather Service, will be conducting a skywarn Storm Spotter training class. This training class is beneficial for those who simply wish to become better informed, as well as those who want to be designated storm spotters. The training will be conducted by a Warning Coordination Meterologist from the National Weather Service. Individuals are taught the basics of thunderstorm development, storm structure, what constitutes severe weather and how to report the information. Training will begin at 6:00 pm and will run for around two hours with a break in the middle to allow for questions and refreshments. The training will be held on April 3rd from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Embassy Community Center in Fosston, April 4th from the 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Knutson Community Center in Fertile and April 5th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Kiehle Auditorium at UMC in Crookston.
