State Fair 4-H Renovation
A campaign has begun to renovate a historic building at the Minnesota State Fair. The Minnesota State Fair and 4-H are teaming up to begin a major renovation of the iconic three story 4-H building at the State Fairgrounds. The 4-H building opened in 1939 and has been the place where 4-H youth show off their projects and the youth stay in dormitories in the building. The renovation will include new stages for performances, spaces for STEM activities and workshops, new windows and elevators. The project has a 35 million dollar price tag; 60 percent of that has been raised, thanks in part to a ten million dollar donation from Kathy and Jim Cargill. Work on the exterior of the 4-H building is underway with the majority of renovations beginning immediately after this year’s State Fair. The updates will be finished in time for the 2027 Minnesota State Fair.
