Sugarbeet Crop Update 

American Crystal Sugar started pulling sugarbeet samples earlier this week, and area producers are starting to feel confident in this year’s crop. Harrison Weber of the  Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association says producers expect a good yield in this year’s crop. 

Diseases are always a concern for sugarbeet producers, but Weber says that this year’s beet crop is looking healthy. 

Sugar quality is also a concern heading into harvest, but Weber there shouldn’t be much of a concern this year. 

Weber was a guest on the KRJB Farm and Field Show, which airs Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 to 5:00 on 106.5 FM.
