Sugarbeet Fungal disease outlook with Dr Ashok Chanda
The Red River Valley has seen some very strong growing conditions for sugarbeets the last couple of years, but these conditions can also be a double edged sword, as they also tend to be perfect for fungal diseases. Dr Ashok Chanda of the University of Minnesota says that one disease producers will need to identify quickly and correctly is root rot.
Chanda says growing conditions the past decade signal another growing season filled with Cercospora Leaf Spot.
Chanda says it’s going to be important for producers to stay ahead of potential diseases in 2026, and apply fungicides at the appropriate time.
