Sugarbeet Root Maggot projection
The 2026 Sugarbeet Planting season is just about here, and Dr Mark Botel of NDSU Extension’s Department of Entomology is reminding growers to have an insect management plan in place.
Botel says it’s important to have a plan in place, as it’s easier to be proactive before planting, than reactive after your crop is in the ground.
Sugarbeet Root Maggot is expected to be one the prominent insects across the Red River Valley this year, and Botel gives his 2026 projection for the insect.
