Suicide Survivor Speaks On Mental Health

She survived a suicide attempt and is sharing her story. Emma Benoit spoke Monday night at the Waubun Ogema School about her decision to end her life eight years ago.
Benoit’s gunshot wound didn’t kill her, but it left her with a spinal cord injury that has her confined to a wheelchair. What came as a surprise to outsiders was that a popular cheerleader would attempt suicide.
Emma Benoit will speak Tuesday night at 6 at the Ada-Borup-West School and show a documentary about her recovery. Admission is free. This program is recommended for those age 12 and older.
If you’re struggling with your mental health, call the national mental health hotline at 988. It’s available 24 hours a day.
