Tax Season Leads to Increase in Scam Attempts

Bagley, MN — With it being tax time, the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office is once again seeing an abundance of reports or apparent scams. Through phone calls and emails, scammers are always finding new and creative ways to get your personal information and take your hard earned money, according to Clearwater County Sheriff Darin Halverson.

Sheriff Halverson provides a few tips to avoid being scammed, but most importantly he says never give out personal information over the phone and if it seems fishy, it probably is.
