Traill County Sheriff’s Department to explore K9 Unit
After operating without a K9 unit for the last few years, Traill County Sheriff Steve Hunt says there’s interest in bringing the unit back.
Hunt says the unit would be solely focused on detecting narcotics, but would be helpful in multiple types of situations.
Sheriff Hunt also mentioned the frequency of the use of the K9 unit would vary from day to day, week to week, “but the biggest thing is… when you need one, you need one”.
The method for funding the K9 unit is not fully decided and still in the early stages but is expected to require $25,000 to begin the process.
