US Ag Secretary visiting Red River Valley
U.S. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins is in Fargo this morning, for a roundtable with area ag producers and organizations. Harrison Weber of the Red River Valley Growers Association will be attending the roundtable, and he says it will be a great opportunity to have discussions about the Farm Bill.
After a number of extensions due to congress not being able to reach an agreement on a new farm bill, ag producers across the country are calling for a new bill that addresses a plethora of issues plaguing the ag industry. Weber says one of these issues that need to be addressed immediately is the need for a wider safety net for producers.
Weber says another issue that needs to be improved in the new Farm Bill is crop insurance, and he explains why.
Other programs that are a part of the Farm Bill include the US food program, and the US environmental conservation program.
