Variety of Speakers Lined Up for 44th Annual Norman County Ag Day
Ada, MN — The 44th Annual Norman County Ag Day is set to roll this Wednesday, January 26th at the Ada Events Center. It gets underway at 8am with registration and rolls followed by opening remarks and youth presentations at 8:30am. Throughout the day there will be a number of guest speakers and grower meetings. (See the complete lineup below) Speakers in the morning program include Dr. David Kee of the Minnesota Soybean Research Council, Bruce Kleven with farm policy updates, McKenzie Boubin, who will provide an update on biofuels and new uses for corn, and Northland Community and Technical College Farm Business Management Instructor Betsy Jensen will speak on marketing, according to Norman County Extension Educator Heather Dufault.
Minnesota Soybean President Mike Skaug will provide an update and the Norman County Soybean and Corn Growers will have their annual meeting prior to the lunch break. After lunch, which is provided free of charge, there will be a short wheat update before U of M Regional Crop Educator Angie Peltier speaks on recent pest research.
Dr. Jochum Wiersma, University of Minnesota Small Grains Specialist, will present on spring wheat varieties and closing out the Norman County Ag Day will be new Norman County FSA Executive James Kruize. Closing remarks and door prizes will be announced at the end as well at 3pm.
