Viking Grave Recreation Coming to McIntosh

Local residents will have the opportunity to journey back over a millennium as McIntosh hosts a unique history presentation later this week.

Creative fiber and textile artist Stephenie Anderson will present an archaeological recreation of a Viking Age grave on Wednesday, September 23, at the McIntosh Community Center. The presentation offers an inside look into the culture, craftsmanship, and garments of the era, all recreated based on real archaeological findings.

Anderson is well-versed in hand sewing Viking Age textiles along with knitting, embroidery, and quilting. She earned an Artist in Residence at Vesterheim in 2025 and received a Viking Connection Grant to study in Norway.

Hosted by the Northwest Educational Leadership Loop (NELL), the free event is open to all ages, with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and the official program starting at 9:30 a.m. Complimentary refreshments will also be provided for attendees.
