Voyageurs Men’s Basketball Dunk on Hibbing at Home
The Minnesota North College–Rainy River Voyageurs stayed perfect in conference play Wednesday night with an impressive 82–69 home win over Minnesota North–Hibbing.
Rainy River set the tone early, taking a 39–29 lead into halftime and never looking back, outscoring Hibbing again in the second half to secure the victory. The Voyageurs shot better than 52 percent from the floor and dominated the glass, pulling down 50 rebounds compared to Hibbing’s 41.
It was a big night in the paint for Rainy River, led by O’Neal Norelus and Rodney Mozard, who both recorded double-doubles. Norelus finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Mozard added 20 points and 11 boards, providing strong inside play on both ends of the floor.
Austin Howe also had a standout performance, leading all scorers with 20 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding seven rebounds in a full 40-minute effort. Off the bench, Carter Smith chipped in nine points to help maintain momentum throughout the night.
With the win, the Voyageurs improve to 4-and-0 in conference play, building confidence as they prepare for a key road matchup this weekend against Central Lakes.
