Walleye Catch and Keep Size Dropping
The Mille Lacs Lake walleye catch and keep size has dropped from 21 inches to 20 inches. That criteria starts August 1st. Though the walleye limit is still set at one, the size for that one fish is now 20-23inches or over 28 inches long. The walleye available has grown a bit, not because the population has grown significantly but because there’s so much natural food available that walleye aren’t as tempted by bait. The slight difference in harvestable fish means anglers have a better shot at catching a suitable keeper. The regulations for all other species remain the same, and new winter wallet regulations for the winter season will be announced in November. The winter season starts December 1.
