Waubun Man Arrested For Assault
MAHNOMEN, MN—A man from Waubun has been arrested for allegedly beating a woman in a hotel room at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen. Valley News Live has found court documents that say law enforcement was called to the hotel June 8 after a report of an assault in a room. Security told law enforcement the man had been escorted out of the bar for starting a fight. When a Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Deputy got into the room, 43-year-old Jesse Stilke of Waubun was seen sitting in a chair. There was also a woman in the room who was wedged between the bed and nightstand. While a female deputy was assisting the victim, the deputy noticed several injuries consistent with being slapped…as well as significant bruising on the victim’s arms and head, plus a hematoma that was described as “the size of a baseball.” There was also blood on the pillowcases and splattered on the wall. The victim was taken to Mahnomen Medical Center. Stilke was arrested for first degree assault–causing bodily harm.
