DETROIT LAKES, MN—A woman from Waubun is facing felony charges after police say she assaulted officers and jail staff in Detroit Lakes.  According to court documents, 22-year-old Katie Jolene Reich was arrested early Thursday morning after police responded to a Detroit Lakes apartment building.  Detroit Lakes Police say they were called to the apartment building around 12:45am Thursday about an intoxicated woman who was pounding on doors, screaming and refusing to leave.  Reich was inside the building trying to force her way into an apartment she claimed was hers, but a woman inside the apartment said it wasn’t Reich’s.  When an officer tried to detain her, Reich was said to become combative; kicking the officer’s leg and screaming vulgar language at him.  Officers finally got Reich into a squad car, but had to pull over when she began kicking the rear window and hitting her head.  While officers were trying to restrain her, Reich allegedly kicked another officer in the chest, spit on his face and bit him in the ear and neck.  When Reich and the officers arrived at the Becker County Jail, Reich allegedly spit at correctional officers when they tried to get Reich in a restraint chair.  She is charged with two felony counts of fourth degree assault, a gross misdemeanor charge of fourth degree assault and a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.  Reich is in custody in the Becker County Jail.
