Weird and Wacky Wednesday: “Austin, TX Dental Clinic trying to solve Exploding Toilet Mystery”

A foul, smoky smell filled the air inside the office when workers arrived in the morning and traced the smell to the bathroom where they were shocked to find a burnt and melted toilet underneath a charred ceiling. The fire department came by to take a look and they thought it was possibly from an overheating ceiling vent, but employees flushed down that idea. They have a different theory. They believe that a bolt of lightning must have struck the roof of the building, traveled through the ventilation system, and then finally exited through the ceiling vent and to the toilet, setting it on fire. The problem with that theory, however, is that local meteorologists say there was no lightning recorded on the day of the fire. So for now it remains a mystery. (KXAN-TV)
