Weird and Wacky Wednesday: “The World’s Fastest Clothes-Folding Robot
Researchers at the University of California-Berkeley unveiled a robot they claim can fold clothes faster than any other robot on the planet. The team of researchers said the robot — which they’ve named … not-so-creatively … SpeedFolding — can fold 30 to 40 randomly positioned garments per hour, which is much more than the previous robot record of three to six folds per hour. It’s a breakthrough and a nice story, but SpeedFolding still isn’t anywhere near as fast as humans. When it comes to folding clothes, if you want the job done right, you’re still going to have to do it yourself.
