While farmers harvest crops, DNR harvests walleye 

When you hear the phrase “fall harvest” most people will think of the local sugarbeet, corn, or soybean harvest, but did you know that the Minnesota DNR Fisheries Department also has their own version of a fall harvest? Nathan Olson of the MN DNR Fisheries department tells us more about their fall harvest season centered around the harvest of walleye. 

Most of the walleye that the DNR will harvest this fall are called fingerlings, and Olson explains what a fingerling is. 

But why would the DNR do all this work to stock fish?  R&J News asked Olson this question, and he said that the DNR stocks fish in order to give people the opportunity to catch walleye.
