Wild River Electric Co-op Infrastructure Loan
As part of a nationwide effort to reduce pollution and strengthen rural Minnesota’s power grid, the USDA is loaning Wild Rice Electric Co-op $18.6 million. Wild Rice will use the funding to build and improve 99 miles of line and connect 628 consumers. Wild Rice Electric Co-op CEO Mike Wade tells R&J News more about how the money will be used.
Wade emphasizes the $18.6 million is a loan that will need to be paid off. He says it will remain to be seen if consumer rates will need to be raised to pay off the loan.
