Wildfire Risk
This may be a strange thing to hear in mid-December, but the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is warning us about a risk of wildfires. The unusually warm and dry conditions are likely to increase the risk of wildfires in much of Minnesota. DNR wildfire prevention specialist Karen Harrison says “even with scattered snow showers, burning vegetative debris is risky right now, especially with temperature increases and windy conditions predicted over the next week.” The DNR recommends waiting until there is at least three inches of snow on the ground before burning brush or vegetative debris.
