Zebra Mussels Found Near Hawley
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says zebra mussels have been confirmed in Lee Lake, near the city of Hawley. A property owner on the lake called the DNR after noticing zebra mussels along the shoreline and attached to a rock. Zebra mussels were also found on a dock at the Lee Lake public water access and at another location three-quarters of a mile from the public water access.
Boaters are reminded that Minnesota law requires you to clean watercraft, trailers and equipment to remove aquatic plants and invasive species…..drain all water and leave drain plugs out during transport….never release bait, plants or aquarium pets into Minnesota waters, dispose of unwanted bait in the trash…and dry docks, lifts and rafts for 21 days before moving them from one body of water to another.
