Norman County Commission Approves Retail Cannabis Ordinance
ADA, MN—Norman County now has an ordinance regarding retail cannabis sales. At Thursday’s Norman County Commission meeting, an ordinance was approved by a four to one vote. Norman County Environmental Services Director Garry Johanson tells R&J News about the ordinance.
State law requires every Minnesota county to have a retail cannabis ordinance in place by the end of the year. That law also requires each county to have an ordinance allowing one retail cannabis license for every 12,500 residents. Johanson explains what could happen if the City of Ada were to designate a retail business to sell cannabis.
The Norman County Commission’s vote to approve the retail cannabis ordinance was four to one, with County Commission Chair Lee Ann Hall voting “no.” Johanson adds this ordinance on retail cannabis sales in the county could be amended in the future.
