Shaken Baby Arrest
MAHNOMEN, MN—A Naytahwaush man has been arrested for allegedly shaking his three month old son. The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office tells R&J News they were called on December 23 about a three month old child who was being taken to Mahnomen Health Center for reportedly not breathing. Medical staff told deputies the child had suffered from non-accidental trauma–or shaken baby syndrome. After an investigation, the boy’s father, 35-year-old Derek Croud, Sr. of Naytahwaush, was arrested Wednesday for first degree assault and domestic assault. The baby remains hospitalized and is stable, but there’s no word on lasting damage at this time.
