Voyageurs Men’s Basketball beat Northland in Rematch from Preseason Scrimmage Loss
Over on the Rainy River Campus, the Voyageurs Men’s Basketball team played against Northland for their second home conference game of 2025. The Voyageurs would have a slow start, leading 34-32 at halftime before exploding in the second half putting up 49 points to Northland’s 26 to win it 83-58.
Braedon Gomez would be the leader of the charge making 5 3-pointers in a row, after going 0-2 in the first half, and finishing the game with 21 points and a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Rodney Mozard would also help lead the voyage to victory with his own double-double with 10 rebounds and 18 points, all made within the arch. He was also a big contributor to the defensive efforts of the game.
Then, Israel Barnett would chip in with 16 points off the bench.
Moving forward how will they continue finding success?
There was even mention of the scrimmage Rainy River had against Northland during the preseason where Northland beat them but only one point.
Finally, the players shared shout-outs to those near and far.
Of course, I also had the opportunity to speak with Head Coach Ernest Collins after the game as well.
The Voyageurs will be traveling for their next conference game this Wednesday as they head over to MN North-Hibbing to try and carry their current moment.
