Border Battle 2024-2025 Ends in Barn Burner

February 5, 2025 News -- KSDM-KGHS Sports News 0

In International Falls, the Broncos and Muskies Boys Hockey teams would face off in the Border Battle for the last time in the 2024-2025 season. Neither team would disappoint in what was an absolute barn burner in Bronco Arena where International Falls would come away with a close 4-3 victory. Both teams would be scoreless in the first period before Anthony Yerxa would open the scoring in the second period at 6:02 with assists from Cooper Crandall and Willy Yerxa.

Then, barely over a minute later Andrew Eide would find the net followed by a second goal by Anthony Yerxa to put the Broncos at a 3-0 lead late in the second period. The Muskies caught fire thanks to Aiden Jean’s power play goal that would halt the Broncos momentum, and Drake Bodnar would also score a goal at 16:47 to go into the third period trailing 3-2.

In the third, and final period Ozzy Hanson would secure the tie for the Muskies at 4:56 3-3. Zach Youso of the Broncos would hit the game-winner at 10:59 to finish Border Battle 4-3 and keep the trophy in International Falls. The Broncos now prepare to be back on home Ice against Greenway Friday night at 7pm.

That will be a game live on Lakes Country 104.1 KSDM and YourLiveEvent.com. Don’t forget, the “Stick it to Stigma” hockey game between the Broncos Boys and the Lake of the Woods Bear is coming up on February 13th! The Muskies Boys next game will be a NorWOSSA matchup on next week Wednesday.
