Rainy River Men’s Basketball Raided by Central Lakes

The Voyageurs Men’s Basketball team was at home Saturday 2/15 to play against Central Lakes Raiders in a matchup between the top two teams in the MCAC North. Unfortunately, in one of the biggest games of the season the Voyageurs couldn’t match Central Lakes’ physicality as they’d lose 89-68. Braedon Gomez would lead the scoring with 16 points for the Voyageurs, and Rodney Mozard got a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Tyheim Williams had himself a good game with 15 points off the bench.

Jakobe Jones of the Raiders led Central Lakes scoring 21 points, and Jaiquavious Ackey would score 19. The Voyageurs now fall to 9-2 in conference and 16-8 overall, and they sit in second in the MCAC North.

They’re next on the road Wednesday at Mesabi Range for a 7pm tip time, and next Saturday they’ll be at home for the last time against Gogebic. That game will be the Voyageur’s Sophomore Day.
