Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, Northwest Technical College in Bemidji and Alexandria Technical and Community College have received a Concurrent Enrollment Grant from the Minnesota Office of Higher Education.  The three colleges, working as a consortium called Distance MN, will use the $276,124.46 grant to expand career and technical education to over 50 schools statewide.  Among those schools are: Ada-Borup-West, Fosston, Waubun, Climax, Bagley, Fisher, Clearbrook-Gonvick, Hawley, Norman County East, Red Lake County Central, East Grand Forks and Red Lake Falls. The idea behind concurrent enrollment is to allow high school students to take college courses, which raises the likelihood that those students would pursue a college degree after they graduate high school.
