A North Dakota Judge has been nominated by the Trump administration to be the U.S. Attorney for North Dakota according to Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer.

Judge Nicholas Chase was appointed as a North Dakota District Court Judge for the East Central District by former Governor Doug Burgum in 2022. The district includes Cass, Traill and Steele counties. Chase served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for 20 years including Acting U.S. Attorney and First Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Senators Hoeven and Cramer say “from dismantling drug smuggling networks to prosecuting major fraud and trafficking cases, Nick has built a reputation rooted in integrity and a deep commitment to public safety.”

The former U.S. Attorney for North Dakota, Mac Schneider, a Democrat, resigned shortly after President Donald Trump took office.
