Norman-Mahnomen Public Health reminding people about the importance of helmets 

Summer is bike riding season for the children of the Red River Valley, and while bike riding is a fun activity, it can also be dangerous when safety recommendations are ignored. Kelsey Merkens of Norman-Mahnomen Public Health it’s important for parents to make sure their children are wearing bike helmets when riding, and equally important for them to lead by example. 

Merkens says there are also many other things to consider when it comes to your child’s helmet, including its fit, and condition.

If your child does take a tumble on their bike, Merkens says it’s important for parents to make sure their injuries are cleaned, and she walks us through the recommended way to do so.
