Looney’s Brew in Ranier is entering a brand new chapter. After nearly a decade of brewing more than 40 unique beers, Looney’s is transitioning its brewery space into a full bakery operated by Cake & Crust. Owner Matt Kavanaugh joined us in studio, and says the change comes after realizing it was time for something new:

The bar itself is staying open, with karaoke, open mic, trivia, potlucks, and 25 taps remaining in place—now featuring a rotating lineup of Minnesota craft beers, ciders, and more:

To clear out remaining stock, Looney’s is holding a two-week blowout, starting today at 2 p.m. through December 7th—featuring 50% off all beer on tap, growlers, and limited-edition barley wines:

The new bakery transition also adds coffee, cappuccino, juices, teas, smoothies, and mocktails—and 10% of all proceeds will be donated to the Paul Kavan Memorial Endowment:

Kavanaugh says while he’ll miss the craft and creativity of brewing, the excitement of new energy and new offerings is driving the change:
